The Peace Meditation - 2024 New Year

As the crisp air of December whispers the closing of another chapter, I find myself enveloped in the warmth of my studio, brush in hand, heart aligned with the promise of renewal that New Year 2024 brings. It is here that the Peace Meditation came into being — a watercolour painting that channels the essence of tranquility and reflection.

The Peace Meditation is more than a title; it's the narrative of each stroke on the canvas. This piece, crafted with the delicate touch of watercolours, captures the ethereal beauty of the lotus flower — a symbol steeped in the purity of rebirth and the power of enlightenment.

In the act of painting, I discovered a meditative quality that mirrored the stillness of the very subject I was portraying. The very creation of the Peace Meditation was, in itself, a form of meditation — each moment spent with my palette a step deeper into a serene oasis.

The lotus flower, ever so gracefully poised above the chaos of its underwater beginnings, is a poignant reminder of our own potential to rise above the daily tumult. In watercolour, I found a medium forgiving and fluid, perfect for encapsulating the lotus's journey — a journey each of us embarks upon as we navigate the waters of life.

Here’s the latest stage of my lotus painting entitled the Peace Meditation, where I’m gently removing pieces of gold foil to let the painting truly come alive. It’s a delicate dance, one that teaches me patience and the beauty of unexpected outcomes.

Being an artist is full of these moments – times of trial and error, the thrill of the unknown, and the joy of discovery. It’s not always easy, but it’s always a journey worth taking. This piece has really been about experimenting and embracing the process, no matter where it leads.

And look at it now – catching the light, changing with every angle, just like us. It’s a reflection of the peace we’re all trying to practice, the calm in the midst of our own creative struggles.

What do you think – does it capture that sense of peace for you? Your thoughts mean the world to me as we continue this journey together. Cheers to the beauty of art and the peace it can bring to our lives!

As the new year approaches, I invite you to reflect on the Peace Meditation not just as a piece of art but as a companion in your own quest for inner quietude. Let it be a visual anchor in your home (let's see if it's still available HERE), a constant reminder that peace is a stroke of thought away, a colour of emotion waiting to be embraced.
